Gunther assistant brand manager for Arena

She is a top class competitive swimmer who won gold in the 800m freestyle for 18-year-olds in New Zealand, and represented New Zealand at the Australian Age group Championships in 2001, where she was a finalist in the 200m fly event.  She also won the Open Water Rangitoto 4.5km swim and was 3rd in the U19 surf race and 2nd in surf teams in the 2006 New Zealand Surf Lifesaving Championships.

When she was younger, she also ran and competed in triathlons. Her family moved down south when she was seven, and she did most of her swim training in New Zealand and Australia, and also completed her education there.  This includes a BA degree in Sport and Recreation, majoring in business and management. “Swimming has been my life,” says Gunther, who also worked at the Auckland Swimming Association, College Sport (a college sport event management company), Trent Bray Swim School, and after her return to SA in December, at Waterbabies in Bedfordview.

“Nowadays I can only do the odd open water swim with the amount of training I can fit in,” she says. “I have been at Leisure Holdings for over a month now and am really enjoying it, especially working with the staff who are so passionate about their jobs.” She is pictured here with Peter Reeves, Arena brand manager and Leisure Holdings director.
